Rangefinder Sweep
Stiffness gives way. First, I test the wrists. My fingers tighten around the blaster rifle. Good grip. Next, the rangefinder on the right side of my helmet. I lower it a fraction with a deliberate nod. The figures behind me remain frozen. I shift my weight across the grain of the wooden surface beneath my boots. Solid ground. Perimeter secured.
