Sunlight through the Brickwork
I noticed an irregular honeycomb of warm light forming across the shaded concrete beneath the pavilion wall. The open-bond brickwork had cast dozens of staggered amber rectangles along the ground, but a dry oak leaf had wedged into one of the lower masonry voids, casting an uneven shadow that fractured the sequence. I planted my boots firmly on the damp flagstones and climbed onto the lower mortar lip. Gripping the dry leaf by its brittle stem, I drew it free from the opening. The obstruction cleared cleanly in the cool air, allowing a sharp, uninterrupted beam of light to strike the ground and complete the geometric array.
