On the Engine Stand
I pushed past the timetable leaflet and rolled toward a glass display cabinet near the station buffet. Near the floor stood a polished wooden model railway plinth with two real miniature brass rails mounted on top. I aligned myself with the timber edge and gave one sharp, energetic roll upward. My curved felt wedged perfectly between the two cool brass lines, resting just behind a small die-cast black tender engine. Sitting right on the rails made me feel like part of the line's official rolling stock.
