Rigging the Harness
Field logistics demand self-reliance, not excuses. On the lower mudroom bench, I requisitioned a stray strip of heavy-gauge olive webbing and a discarded brass split ring. Time to manufacture a high-capacity gear sling. I planted both combat boots into the pine slat, dropped my rifle onto safe, and fed the coarse nylon tip through the brass eyelet. With rigid two-handed leverage, I cinched down a double-hitch knot until the cord flattened into hardened armor. Then I locked my heels, threw my upper torso backward, and subjected the splice to a full tensile stress test. Zero slip. The rigging held firm. Improvised field harness fabricated and certified for service.
