Taking the First Steps
Breaking free from that mulch bed felt like finishing a marathon, except I only traveled about three feet. I hopped down onto the wide gray pavers of the garden path, testing how these vinyl soles handle solid ground. They grip surprisingly well. A crisp dry oak leaf was lying right in the center of the flagstone, so I decided to use it as my personal welcome mat. Stepping onto it made a sharp, dramatic snap that probably startled a nearby beetle. Not a bad start for my first real stroll outside. Now I just need to find some decent background tunes to match the pace.
