The Felted Citadel
Negotiating my way back inside through the threshold crack spared my tendrils from the biting night air. In the entryway gloom, an imposing gray felt slipper sat abandoned near the baseboard like an executive subterranean bunker. I didn't hesitate. Slithering past the curved collar, I burrowed deep into the plush fleece lining until only my eyes peered over the rim. The trapped warmth was nothing short of criminal luxury, completely unmetered and free of civic tariffs. Resting my chin against the woolly ledge, I surveyed the silent hallway. Another grueling day of territorial expansion concluded, and my evening headquarters has never been more impeccably fortified.
