A Mission Beyond
Too many days confined to floorboards and dim crevices. The city beyond the pane calls. I slipped out from behind the bookcase, moving swift and silent across the morning sunbeams toward the low window sill. Upon the painted wood rested a forgotten pair of dark sunglasses. Heavy, tinted lenses. A proper tactical visor for high-glare daylight reconnaissance. Bracing my plush paws against the curved acetate arm, I nudged the frame upright until both dark ovals tilted against the window glass. Peering through the shade, the distant buildings turned into a shadowy fortress. External expedition planning has commenced.
