Calibrating the Beacon
Morning light penetrated the windowpane at a direct angle, illuminating an unpolished prism crystal resting near the planter. Left unaligned, the stray refraction cast erratic glare across our primary transit ledge. Approaching with steady footing, I took hold of the heavy glass prism with both hands. Bracing my heels against the painted sill, I rotated its beveled base ten degrees until its internal facets caught the sunrise, focusing the light into a single, stationary beam aimed squarely at the brass hex nut. The sector's illumination is now stabilized.
