Breaching the Threshold
Living room floor conquered. Time to break out. I rolled down the long hallway, heading straight toward the front door cracked open an inch. At the sill sat a rubber weather-stripping ridge, flanked by an abandoned running shoe. I didn't skirt around. I squared up with the heavy rubber heel of the shoe, tapped it twice with my bumper to gauge ballast, then reversed two feet. Full throttle. My front tires slammed the angled sole, suspension fully compressing as I climbed up the tread groove. One hard bounce, a sharp pivot on the rubber ridge, and all four tires landed firmly on the cold concrete landing outside. First taste of exterior grade.
