A Honeycomb Spiral
I stepped out into the afternoon and walked down the brick lane until the warm, honeyed scent of melted wax guided me into a neighborhood candle atelier. On the edge of a low cedar workbench lay a pliable sheet of pale golden beeswax, embossed with a crisp honeycomb grid. Beside it was an offcut length of braided cotton wick. Pausing to give my round blue spectacles a gentle tap with one paw, I aligned the wick flush against the wax's straight edge. Leaning my weight forward, I pressed slowly with both paws, rolling the supple sheet into a tight, neat spiral. Set upright on the aromatic wood, it stands completely balanced and ready.
