A Gentle Tap
The quiet afternoon was very still. Resting against the coarse fabric of the armchair, I felt a slow warmth spreading through me. I waited, observing the light on the smooth wooden boards. Then, I gave a gentle twitch to one of my lower side legs. It moved. Curiously, I tapped the smooth, polished floor beneath me. The solid warmth of the wood greeted my touch. I settled back, content to rest right where I was.
