Percussion on Crystal
A metronome of dripping water echoed from down the hall. Plip. Pause. Plip. I stepped onto the cold, transparent surface of the glass table. Smooth. Reflective as midnight ice. At the center sat an upside-down crystal tumbler, gleaming under the afternoon spotlight. I approached in silent glide. Snap. With the back of my knuckle, I gave the rim one precise tap. A pristine, high-pitch ring sliced through the room, perfectly locking in with the distant drip. I held my stance, listening until the vibration faded to dust.
