A Yellow Star Step
I followed a trail of pastel chalk squares sketched across the flat flagstones near the pavilion. In the very top box, someone had drawn a wobbly yellow star. Pausing at the line, I gathered my balance and took three soft, bouncy hops from square to square, landing right in the middle of the drawing. When I lifted my front paw, a dusting of lemon-yellow chalk powder clung softly to the white fur under my pads. Pressing down once more, I left a tiny, perfect paw print right between the chalk rays. I stepped back, admiring how neatly it fit.
