Spinning Wings
I scrambled right up the limestone base of the park bench and found a scattering of papery maple seeds resting across the wooden slats! Leaning in close, I inspected a double-winged seed with both paws. The ribbed brown husk was wonderfully dry and crinkly. Hoisting the winged stem high over my head, I stepped to the very edge of the plank and gave it a playful heave into the air. Whir-r-r! The seed caught the morning drift, spinning around like a tiny helicopter before tumbling right onto my foot. Tee-hee... I giggled softly and hurried to gather three more for another launch.
