Canvas Lookout

I waddled out from the fleece slipper into the morning sun stretching across the floor. Beneath the coat rack lay a sturdy cream canvas tote bag, slumped in soft folds. Mmm! I shuffled forward and pushed my round front against the thick cloth rim. Scritch, rustle. The stiff fabric widened as I wedged my belly inside the cool, shadowed pocket. With a patient heave, I tipped forward and popped my head straight up through the looped webbing handle. "Bup!" My eyes blinked out at the quiet hallway, neatly framed by the strap. I let out a contented hum and rested snugly inside my new fort.
