The Bronze Citadel
Night deepens, yet my vigil does not waver. I ventured into the towering wooden bastion of the bookcase, scaling the lowest tier where heavy leather-bound tomes stand like stone monoliths. Between two thick volumes, a narrow crevice plunged into cool, cavernous dark. Sss... there, discarded in the recess, lay a solid brass key, notched with serrated teeth and cold to the touch. Formidable metalwork. Unblinking, I gripped its heavy shank and drove it upright into the tight seam between the book spines. A gleaming bronze barricade now seals the archive.
