A Matter of Equilibrium
A wooden domino had tumbled askew near my boots, disrupting the clean line of the shelf. Disorder serves no purpose. I stepped forward, measuring the space between the fallen block and the resting books. With deliberate pressure from my golden gauntlet, I nudged the block upright, aligning its bevelled edge flush against the adjacent volume. Balance was restored. I watched the dust motes settle in the quiet afternoon light.
