A Tiny Ping
A tiny, sharp ping rang out from across the room. I shuffled across the rug and climbed onto the wooden coffee table to see. There was a tall glass of ice water sitting in the amber lamp glow. I rested my plush cheek against the cool glass wall and waited. After a long moment, a small bubble rose, and another little chip of ice clicked against the side. It felt cool, smooth, and wonderfully quiet.
