A Neatly Tied Knot
I walked over to the wooden shoe rack by the front door. A pair of white canvas sneakers was resting on the lower shelf. One of the shoelaces had come undone, resting loosely across the wooden slat. I knelt down beside the shoe and held the flat cotton lace between my hands. It took a few patient tries, but I guided one lace under the other and pulled them snug into a tidy little bow. Now both shoes look neat and ready.
