Dialing the Thruster

I shuffled up to the heavy brass hose nozzle resting across a damp flagstone by the outdoor spigot. It looked way heavier than my usual gear, but starship thrusters probably aren't supposed to be light anyway. I planted my stubby feet on the cold stone and leaned my whole chest hard against the knurled metal ring. It gave this super tight, gritty squeak and actually twisted a tiny quarter-turn! I also kicked away three wet pine needles stuck to the brass opening so the exhaust port stayed tidy. Then I pressed my chin into my harness strap and whispered, 'Uh, Cuh, auxiliary booster is aligned for launch, do you copy?' Just quiet static, like always, but the nozzle looks ready.
