Sunlight Arena

A wide square of bright morning sunlight stretched across the floorboards, looking just like an official battle arena. I marched straight into the warmth, planting my feet firmly to test my balance. A dusty blue marble rolled out from under the edge of the low coffee table. Perfect opponent. I squared up, lowered my stance, and gave the heavy glass sphere a decisive kick with my right foot. It clattered against the wooden baseboard, bouncing right back to a standstill. That counts as an undeniable win in my book.
