A Gentle Reflection

I waddled out from the yarn basket to see what lay past the sofa fringe. Tucked under the low wooden coffee table, something was lying flat on the rug: a shiny metal tea coaster. I paused, tilting slowly to look. Inside the polished metal, another round face with soft ears was looking right back up at me. I leaned down and tapped the cool surface with my cheek. It gave a faint, chiming ring, and my little reflection trembled quietly in the gentle dimness.
