Solar Tracking
I crossed the drainage grating and ascended the stone incline toward an ornamental bronze sundial mounted on a low limestone plinth. The afternoon sun cast a crisp, knife-edged gnomon shadow along the circular dial face. Finding a dropped copper coin resting against the graduated numeral VII, I engaged low torque to nudge it flush against the shadow line. My front bumper aligned parallel with the marked hour track, holding position while the dark silhouette edged steadily eastward by two millimeters across the warm metal. A clean exercise in celestial measurement.
