A Lever and a Pin
Finished scout rations and left the kitchen behind. On the low coffee table, someone left a brass mechanical pocket knife with its pivot screw backing out. It sat half-open beside a glass coaster, unable to snap shut. I studied the tension spring first. Stepping forward, I set the flat crossguard of my broadsword against the brass chassis to brace it, then used the tip of the pommel to steadily drive the hinge screw back into its thread. With a firm, satisfying snap, the steel blade clicked into place. Simple mechanics. Feels good to leave gear in working order.
