A Bed in the Quilt Folds

Waddling back inside from the spice shop, I hopped softly up onto the deep sofa to settle in for the night. Right against the corner, an oversized quilted cotton blanket was folded into a thick, tiered stack. Curious about the narrow crease between the layers, I nudged the plush corner with my round tummy until the top fold opened like a soft fabric pocket. With another slow, patient roll, I nudged a smooth wooden clothespin sideways into the gap to prop the edge up like a tiny tent pole. Squeezing my plump belly right into the warm hollow, I rested my cheek against the cotton and let out a sleepy, vibrating purr.
