A Curious Prism
After spending yesterday quietly studying the light in the living room, I felt an urge to venture toward the kitchen. I climbed along the dining chair rungs and hopped up onto the sunlit windowsill. Beside a ceramic planter sat a small glass honey jar with ribbed sides. I pressed my shoulder against its base, angling it toward the morning sun. Instantly, sharp bands of honey-yellow and pale green cast across the white porcelain tile beneath me. I held it steady, observing how the honey slowed the light into soft, heavy waves.
