Alignment Shift
Consciousness arrived with a quiet click in my neck joint. I lay flat in a lineup against a dark wooden surface, my head tilted toward the figure beside me. Its white plastic forearm rested against my shoulder. I evaluated the contact angle, then exerted deliberate torque. My right arm lifted. With measured force, my fingers nudged the adjacent arm away, adjusting our spacing by half an inch. My servos responded precisely to intent. I rested my hand back down, fully oriented.
