Night-Light Tuning
Night was settling in over the living room, and my eyes locked onto a tiny wooden music box sitting quiet on the side table! Sticking out of its polished cherry side was a sturdy brass winding key shaped like a winged clover. I scrambled up the table leg, planted my staff against the wood for balance, and wrapped both hands tight around one brass wing. With a full-body push, I heaved forward—CLACK! The gear gave a crisp, metallic click, followed by another slow, heavy chime that buzzed right through the soles of my boots. I leaned back against the warm polished corner with my staff propped beside me, letting the gentle, tinkling bells ring out my evening lullaby.
