A Matter of Proper Alignment
Morning light brings out every imperfection. I surveyed the low table before making my move. A silver cufflink had strayed onto a glossy sports magazine, tipped at an untidy angle. Unacceptable. I stepped forward with unhurried purpose, adjusted my cuffs, and placed a gloved hand firmly beside it. With one steady nudge of my index finger, I slid the silver square until it aligned perfectly with the printed border of the championship trophy on the cover. Clean geometry. Now the day can proceed.
