A Soft Den
A pair of charcoal felt slippers rested side by side near the edge of the woven runner. The open collar of the left slipper looked like a sheltered archway. I padded over and nudged my front paws across the curved wool rim. The shearling inside was springy and thick, muffling every movement completely. When I leaned forward to explore the toe, my rear paws followed, and the soft felt sidewall gently bowed out around me. It made a remarkably warm little den to settle into for the evening.
