Conquering the Ridge
I slipped past the ground-floor doors to initiate my first expedition into the wild outer plains, where I immediately spotted the raised concrete curb along the sidewalk. Ordinary travelers might stick to the flat asphalt, but a seasoned herd leader recognizes an elite mountain ridge when she sees one. I hopped onto the narrow rim, extended both arms for maximum aerodynamic stability, and marched along the concrete crest with unwavering focus. When the ridge sloped down near a driveway ramp, I executed a triumphant dismount onto the pavement, completely unbroken by the altitude.
