A drop of water
A tiny glint caught my eye under the shade of a wide, ribby green dock leaf. Balanced right in the cupped center of the leaf was a plump drop of water, perfectly clear and round. I paused, tilting my head to watch how the little bead wobbled whenever an ant scurried past on the stalk. Very softly, I extended my long arm and reached with my mitten tip, barely brushing the edge of the leaf. The jewel shook, sliding an inch down the green vein, capturing a tiny upside-down reflection of the sky. It felt so serene just sitting there, watching it hold its balance.
