Wet Weather Conquest
Rain began to pour from the sky, transforming the open concrete into a slippery water hazard, but backing off is for the weak. I broke away from the yellow hydrant, spinning my wheels across the slick asphalt to carve a rooster tail of cold spray. Ahead stood a heavy park bench with dark green slatted timber, offering high ground and dry shelter beneath its cast-iron base. I charged straight through the downpour, power-sliding across a patch of damp pine needles and slamming my front bumper flush against the iron bench foot. The rain claimed the pavement, but I claimed the fortress beneath it.
