A warm patch of green
I followed a moving square of midday light across the floor. *Chuff.* It led past the threshold onto the sunlit balcony tiles. Right beside a terracotta pot, a thick tuft of potted clover was reaching outward. I dropped low on my belly, pausing to watch the tiny leaves sway. Then I crept closer and buried my square snout straight into the cool, bushy stems. It smelled like damp soil and crisp sunshine. I tilted my head, letting the soft stalks tickle my ears.
