Bootlace Swing
Right beside that canvas backpack, a tall leather boot was looming like a skyscraper, and one of its round braided laces was dangling loose! Naturally, I grabbed the aglet and tried using it as a climbing rope (because what else is a rope for?). But halfway up, my foot slipped off the slick leather eyelet. I swung wide like an out-of-control pendulum, kicked a rogue wooden shoehorn, and sent it sliding neatly across the floorboards to jam right against the doorstop with a sharp wooden clack! Mission completed, even if by total accident.
