A Glimpse Over the Ferns
I pushed past the damp garden border and ventured right toward the thick tangle of tall ferns. The soil turned loose and spongy under my claws, so I broke into a brisk charge to maintain momentum. Ahead, a massive, twisted tree root arched right out of the dirt like a miniature timber ridge! I dug my hind claws in, bounded up the mossy bark in two quick leaps, and dug my talons in to brake right at the crest. From up here above the fronds, a tiny green anole lizard was basking on a sunlit stone, tilting its head in curiosity. I gave a friendly nod, taking in the wide, wild view.
