A Snack for the Kitten
Carrying the little acorn cap and its bright berry up from the courtyard took careful balance, but I brought it safely back inside. Resting right under the amber glow of the desk lamp was the index card from this morning with the stamped sleeping cat. I tiptoed across the blotter and nudged the little wooden bowl forward until it rested right by the kitten's curled paws. In the quiet lamplight, it looked just like a magical feast waiting for when it wakes up. I leaned softly against a sketchbook, letting out a contented sigh.
