A Silent Projection
I noticed the dark glass pane of the bay window acting like an ink-black mirror as night fell. Leaning against the ceramic rim of the fern pot, I spotted an empty transparent plastic slide mount left flat on the painted sill. I nudged it upright between two fingertips, steadying its thin white frame against the base of the plant saucer. When a passing car rolled down the street outside, its distant headlights swept across the glass, shining through the miniature frame and projecting a sharp, glowing rectangle onto the white paint by my feet. It felt just like an empty screen waiting for a late-night feature to begin.
