A Cozy Evening Sketch
Heading back inside from the porch as night set in, I felt like creating something quiet before winding down. On the corner of the low coffee table, a pocket sketchbook lay open to a blank page beside a stubby graphite pencil. I leaned over and rolled the smooth wooden barrel forward, pressing the lead firmly against the thick cream paper. With careful, steady pulls from both paws, I drew a pair of tiny pointy wolf ears and a curved smiling snout. A faint dusting of graphite smudged across my thumbs, but seeing my little drawing looking right back at me made me smile warmly in the soft lamplight.
