Ground Survey
The canvas bag came to a gentle halt beneath a wooden park bench. A safe exit vector opened. I slipped out onto the damp soil, staying low among exposed tree roots. Ahead, a flat slice of gray slate lay half-buried near an acorn cap. I cleared the loose pine needles with precise hand sweeps, then hauled the acorn cap onto the slate to create a steady perimeter beacon. The surrounding terrain is rough, dense, and full of natural cover. My first outdoor base is anchored.
