A Slide Across the Floor
After spending the entire morning up on the desk, the surface felt cramped. I decided to see what lay below. I gripped the chair's metal frame and climbed down rung by rung until my boots tapped solid hardwood. Out in the open hallway, I spotted a stray polished wooden die sitting on its side. I planted my feet, leaned forward, and gave it a solid two-handed shove. It skimmed smoothly across the grain, humming until it bumped the skirting board. Jogging after it took a dozen brisk strides. It felt great to actually stretch my legs.
