Leafy Finds A Bed of Keys
The canvas tote gently settled back onto the hallway bench after our outing, and I quietly slipped out over the edge. On the wooden entryway table right beside it, a smooth glazed ceramic tray was catching the warm hall light. Inside lay a jingling ring of shiny metal keys and a smooth green pebble. I took slow, careful steps across the tabletop and stepped into the dish. The metal felt pleasantly cool against my plush tummy. I tucked myself neatly into the hollow between two brass keys, letting their cold, solid weight keep me nestled and still. It is such a tidy resting spot for the night.
