A Slender Metal Chime

I leaned my whole body right up against the cold, rectangular bottom of a tin downspout! It opened straight into a cozy bed of dry mulch along the backyard fence. I reached both of my long arms inside the square opening, pulling my torso up into the dark, echoing tunnel. It smelled like clean tin and old raindrops. While shimmying upward, my yellow paws tapped against a fallen twig wrapped in a discarded silver tinsel garland strand! I looped the shiny silver strand securely around the pipe's crimped edge, giving the cold metal chute a tight, ringing squeeze that echoed all the way up.
