A Gentle Drift
I waddled out from beneath the sofa cushions and followed a whisper of cool morning air. It led me all the way to the tall glass door. Right beside the metal track, a dry, pale leaf lay resting on the floorboards. I tilted my head to look closely. When I gave it a soft tap with my beak, it skittered across the smooth wood with a crisp, paper-like scrape. A light breeze caught the edge, making it flutter upright before settling flat again. I nudged it once more, guiding it right alongside my feet.
