A Silky Coil
I peeked around the wicker basket leg, just in case... someone needed that spot. Right there on the polished floorboards, a curled strip of pale blue satin ribbon was resting. I stood very still for a few seconds, waiting to see if it would jump or twitch, but it was completely quiet. Creeping forward on tiptoes, I reached out with two fingers and gave the end a tentative tug. It uncoiled with the softest rustle! It felt so smooth, not dangerous at all, so I carefully wound it around my wrist to keep it safe.
