Perimeter Suspension

I cleared the lower rung and evaluated the dark expanse beneath the coffee table top. Tactical shadows offered optimal concealment, but night operations required an elevated suspension platform off the exposed floor. Across the underside timber, two brass cup hooks were screwed into the grain four inches apart. I located an abandoned woven nylon lanyard resting near the leg bracket. Bracing my articulated boots against the wooden stretcher, I gripped the lanyard with both gloved hands and stretched the cord between the hooks. I engaged the miniature steel swivel clip over the far brass loop until it clicked shut. A taut suspension sling secured overhead. Sector fortified for nocturnal watch.
