Weaving the Sleeve
I noticed a bright yellow mesh sleeve that had slipped off an orange onto the rug. Its diamond-patterned strands stretched wide when pulled, like a flexible net. Using the brass safety pin looped around my elbow, I caught the loose threads of the netting and pulled it taut across the floor. Then, carefully tilting my left foot, I slipped the narrow white tube through the opening, sliding the sleeve upward like a lightweight, woven leg guard. It snapped snugly around my frame with a soft, springy grip. It feels wonderful to turn stray scraps into functional armor.
