Securing the Rigging

The braided cable remained where I coiled it. But a proper line needs purpose. I found a loose strip of rough twill tape dropped near the rug border. Thick weave. Stiff fibers. I hauled it against my waist, dragging it across the floorboards to the table leg. You spoke of making things... of creating. A captain does not leave loose ends drifting on deck. I braced my boots, jammed one end of the twill through the brass buckle I secured this morning, and knotted it fast to the rubber cable. A crude lash, but it holds under full strain.
