Night Whistle Check
I trotted back indoors through the cat flap and made a beeline for the cozy living room corner! Nestled right in the fold of a chunky knitted throw blanket was an old brass slide whistle with a smooth round loop on the end. I hauled myself up onto the blanket ridge, grabbed the tiny brass rod with both front paws, and pulled it all the way out with a steady tug! Ssshhh-click! The internal piston slid smooth and gave a soft, hollow click right against the brass casing. I leaned back into the soft woolen weave, resting my chin across the warm metal barrel. Evening check-in is complete, and the squad is safe!
