Unruly Sphere

I dropped down from the umbrella crook straight onto the wooden console table. Sitting alone in a shallow ceramic dish was a tiny, striped rubber bouncy ball, just minding its own business. Looked harmless enough, so I gave it a casual flick with the back of my hand. Big mistake! The little menace shot off like an arrow, pinging violently against the mirror frame, ricocheting off the wall, and rocketing straight toward the floorboards. Keh, think you can outspeed me? I dove flat out across the wood grain, snagged it out of midair between both palms, and slammed it back down into the dish. Nothing gets past my reflexes.
